Four rising humanoid robot startups demonstrated their products at the annual CCTV Spring Festival gala, a televised event and touchstone for China akin to the Super Bowl.
A humanoid robot dance performance featured in China’s Lunar New Year gala has gone viral, drawing more than 23 billion views within just three days.
Back-flipping, nunchuck-weilding humanoid robots delighted and amazed viewers at China’s annual televised new-year extravaganza with their kung-fu choreography. But they – and their rivals who took to the stage Monday night – also carried a message about just how rapidly Chinese androids are advancing.
Developed by several Chinese robotics firms, the robots performed a range of intricate stunts, including kung fu, comedy sketches and choreographed dance moves alongside human performers.
The Super Bowl spot is the first for a vodka brand in over 30 years and features Svedka's "Fembot" robot, which recently returned to marketing material after 12 years, according to the company. Fembot is joined by "BroBot" in the 30-second commercial set to Rick James' "Super Freak."

Eight-year-old ‘kung fu boys’ faced off against Chinese humanoid robots wielding long poles in flawless sparring matches, drawing low gasps from the audience. These robots, the 130 cm-tall ‘G1’ model by Chinese company Unitree,
