We participated in the @birdlifeoz Bittern Listening Survey. The Australasian Bittern is a wetlands bird that resides in the Hunter Estuary but is sadly under threat. You might also be surprised that even though Matuku-hūrepo, our native Bittern are at a high and immediate risk of extinction with only 800 birds estimated left, that we have been turned down for the last 3 years to get funding at a national level from the likes of DOC, WWF, Forest & Bird and Air NZ Most other bird
